Rothea

Though other planets exist that can be visited by those with access to powerful magic, Rothea is the main focus of the Urbis campaign setting. Here, most humanoid ancestries have their ancestral home, and its civilizations are the most advanced.

Mythology

"In the beginning, Rothea one vast ocean, and only the great ocean beasts swam through its waters. But then the Gods, desiring places to live for their children, slew the ocean beasts and used their carcasses to form the lands..."

History

Modern science has revealed that Rothea is much older than most myths and legends imply - millions, or perhaps even hundreds of millions of years old. There is evidence that intelligent beings lived on this world long before the first humanoid beings built their first settlements. Some of these entities arose on Rothea itself, while others were visitors from distant stars. Many of them left their marks in ancient ruins, or in the form of fossils in the geological strata. But it is the advent of the Oreanor civilization that recorded history truly began.
