The Mountain Mother

Moranna provides the land that surface-dwellers need to live. In her womb, the ores grow which the mortals need to craft tools. From her flanks, the fertile soil is washed down to the valleys and plains where the farmers grow their crops. Without her, all the world would be a vast ocean where only the sea-dwellers could live, and sailors pay homage to her for the safe harbor she grants. Her displeasure is shown through avalanches, volcano eruptions, earthquakes, and all sorts of bad weather.

While many shrines and temples dedicated to her are within communities - both on the surface and in underground settlements - people in mountainous regions also erect summit shrines at mountaintops and passes where people leave sacrifices on her holy days.
